New measurement location F2-A-Hanze

A new measurement location to support offshore wind development in the Dutch North Sea is now operational. This marks the fifth location for TNO’s long-term offshore wind measurement campaign, in which several profiling lidars have been installed on offshore platforms and where data are made publicly available.

F2-A-Hanze is an oil and gas platform operated by Dana Petroleum. The platform is located approximately 200 km North of Den Helder and is therefore the northernmost location of TNO’s measurement campaign. The relevance of this location is its close proximity to wind energy search area 6/7 of the Dutch government’s North Sea Programme.

A ZX 300M profiling LiDAR has been installed on the F2-A-Hanze on 17 February 2026 with the kind support of Dana Petroleum. Together with the four previously commissioned measurement locations LEG, EPL, K13-A and L2-FA-1, the measurement programme now provides an improved coverage of the Dutch North Sea.
